Like it or not, Kuching International Airport (KIA) is the first impression most foreign visitors (save for those who are using land transports all the way from Indonesian Kalimantan or the Sultanate State of Brunei) would have about Kuching the moment they have any physical contact with this city affectionately called the Cat City.

Kuching (population : 635,000), located at the north-western tip of Borneo Island (743,330 km²), the 3rd largest island in the world after Greenland (2,166,086km²) and New Guinea (786,000km²), is the capital city of the East Malaysian State of Sarawak, also the largest state in Malaysia.






拥有 635,000 人口的古晋市，是马来西亚最大州砂拉越州的首府。位于婆罗洲岛的西北端。

婆罗洲岛 (743,330平方公里) 是世界第三大岛，名列格陵兰岛 (2,166,086平方公里) 和新几内亚岛 (786,000平方公里) 之后。



Borneo Island are divided by 3 countries, namely Malaysia (where its largest, namely Sarawak (area ： 124,450 km², population : 2,500,000 (2007 estimate)) and the 2nd largest, namely Sabah (area : 76,115 km², population : 3,387,880 (2007 estimate)), states are located here), Indonesia (its Kalimantan territory (area : 537,000 km², population : 11,400,000 (1999 estimate))makes up 2/3 of Borneo Island) and the oil rich Sultanate State of Brunei (area : 5,765km², population : 381,371(July, 2008 estimate)).
