Raising Fund For Chinese Education
2008年11月30日，砂拉越詔安會館青年團參與義賣會，為古晉中華第一，三，四中 (民辦華文獨立中學)籌款。
當天我們義賣龜苓膏，果凍和“ 烏龜糕* ”（*我們詔安人的傳統糕點，詔安/閩南話叫“O gu kueh”，餡料是綠豆沙，姜等，非常好吃 jing ho jia !)。
On 30.11.2008, Sarawak Chawan Association Youth Group took part in a charity sale to raise fund for Chinese Education.
We sold Chinese Herbal Jelly, Fruit Jelly and " Black Turtle * "。
* not the real one of course, it's a type of traditional Chawan steamed cake with minced green bean and ginger stuffing, it tastes sweet and salty and full of ginger aroma and trust me, it's actually very nice.
Yes, it is purposely made to resemble turtle, and it puzzles me as much as it puzzles you, so don't ask me why, maybe turtle is the symbol of longevity and the person who came out with this idea wanted those who eat the "black turtle" steamed cake to live longer ... but please don't quote me, I'm shooting blank, frankly, I really have no idea.
